Open Add Music and choose individual files or a music/album folder. Folders containing several albums are split into separate collections; CD subfolders of one album stay together. MP3, FLAC, AAC, M4A, WAV, AIFF and CAF are supported where your device can decode them. Extract ZIP files first. Protected downloads from streaming subscriptions are not supported.

You can also copy files into Files → On My iPhone → Tonrad → Musik. The folder is named Musik in both languages, so existing files and workflows stay in the same location. Tonrad checks it when the app becomes active. Successfully imported copies and verified duplicates are then removed from the import folder; the library keeps its own local copy. External originals selected through the file picker stay in their original location.

Duplicate detection compares file contents. Renamed identical files are recognized; re-encoded files or files with different tags may be imported separately.

Open Tonrad on both devices, select a collection and choose Send to Watch. Wait for confirmation that the tracks are stored on the Watch. Connect AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones directly to your Watch. You can then listen without your iPhone nearby. Large files take more time and storage. The system manages transfer timing.

On iPhone: Settings → Sleep Timer, or … → Sleep Timer for the current track. On Watch: Player Menu → Sleep Timer. Choose 15, 30 or 60 minutes, or End of Track. Pausing playback does not stop the countdown. End of Track clears an active A–B loop and takes priority over repeat. Starting a new A–B loop yourself cancels the end-of-track timer. If you select another track manually, the timer follows that track.

Timers apply to the current device and are cleared when the app process ends. They never start music automatically. After relaunch, only the last local track resumes at its saved position, with its playback order preserved. Other tracks start at the beginning. Bookmarks are kept.

Audio files are stored and transferred without changing their encoding. For unprocessed playback, turn the equalizer off and set speed to 1×. The iPhone quality display describes the source file. Actual output quality also depends on the device, headphones and connection; Bluetooth playback is not lossless.

The iPhone click wheel adjusts media volume for the current output where supported. On Watch, the Digital Crown adjusts player volume. Open Audio Output for device volume.

Open Tonrad once after installing it. Touch and hold an empty area on your Home Screen, then choose Edit → Add Widget → Tonrad. Choose small or medium. Both match your theme and show the current or last track. Tap the center to play or pause. The medium widget also has previous/next buttons and MENU to open your library. Tap the display to open the player. Widgets use buttons, not wheel rotation. Track, cover and theme changes may take a moment to appear as the system refreshes widgets.

Tonrad includes English and German. It follows your device’s preferred supported language; on iPhone, you can choose a language for Tonrad in system settings. Album and track titles, artist tags, custom categories and mixtape names are kept as entered. Changing languages does not create a new library.

In collection options, choose Delete from Device …, followed by Delete from iPhone Only or Delete from iPhone and Watch. The second option requires a Watch connection. Original files in source folders or on USB drives are kept. Deleting locally on Watch removes only that device’s copy. A mixtape is a list; deleting it does not delete its audio files.
