Your data in Tonrad

Tonrad processes selected audio files, track information, artwork, categories, mixtapes, bookmarks and playback positions locally on your device to play and organize music. Themes and equalizer settings are also stored locally. Processing provides the app features you use (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Tonrad does not require an account and contains no advertising, tracking or analytics SDKs. The app does not send music or usage data to its provider and does not use a provider-operated server.

Watch, widgets and system services

At your request, files and organization data are transferred to your paired watch using Apple’s WatchConnectivity. Playback positions and sleep timers remain local to each device. Track information, the theme and a small cover image are shared locally between the app and Nano widgets.

File providers such as iCloud Drive, device backups and Apple’s media controls are also governed by your system settings and the respective providers’ terms. Tonrad does not expressly exclude its files from device backups. An external link you choose to open leads to the respective operator’s website.

Deleting local data

Your local files and library data remain until you delete them or remove the app and its data. Deleting only the iPhone copy leaves the watch copy intact. You may need to manage external originals and existing device backups separately.

Website and hosting

This website is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. When a page is requested, the hosting service processes technical connection data, including the IP address, time and requested resource, to deliver and securely operate the website. This is based on the legitimate interest in a reliable, secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The hosting contract used for this website falls under the IONOS information for contracts purchased before September 18, 2025. Under that policy, log files are kept available for a maximum of eight weeks. IONOS describes anonymization of visitor IP addresses in log files. For proxy requests, original IP addresses forwarded in the X-Forwarded-For field may also be logged. See the IONOS information on log files.

The supplied website files do not set cookies, use browser storage or embed tracking scripts, externally loaded fonts or videos.

Visitor statistics with IONOS WebAnalytics

We use IONOS WebAnalytics to analyze and technically improve this website using server logs. Data includes requested resources, referring page, browser, operating system, device type, access time and an anonymized IP address for approximate location. According to IONOS, IP addresses are anonymized immediately after transmission; WebAnalytics does not use cookies. Where personal data is processed, this is based on our legitimate interest in improving the website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Further information: IONOS WebAnalytics.

Email inquiries

An IONOS mailbox is used for support@tonrad.app. When you contact us, we process your email address, message and any details you voluntarily provide to handle your inquiry. Questions about purchasing or using the app are processed to perform a contract or take pre-contractual steps (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Other inquiries are processed based on the legitimate interest in answering them (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Support messages are intended to be deleted when no longer needed to handle the inquiry. Legal retention duties or the necessary handling of claims may justify longer storage. Private music files are not required for an initial inquiry.

Your rights

Subject to the legal conditions, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. Where processing is based on legitimate interests, you may object on grounds relating to your particular situation. You may withdraw any consent you have given for future processing.

You may complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg. For requests concerning your data, contact support@tonrad.app.
